This Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Centenary is one of 25 special replicas of the 100,000th motor car by Rolls-Royce Motors. It was made in 1985, a year which commemorated a century of motoring. Special Edition No. 20 of 25.
"Rarely has there been such a magnificent display of motor cars as that seen in the Pageant of Progress at Crewe on Friday, August 2, 1985. The cavalade paid tribute to the 100,000th motor car made by Rolls-Royce, 81 yeas after the company was founded and at a time when Britain was celebrating a century of motoring.
The official presentation of the car, a royal blue Silver Spur Centenary special model, was made by the two longest serving employees to Richard Perry, chief executive. All 3,800 employees were given time off to enjoy the celebrations of the ceremony.
Another 25 identically matched Centenary replicars were also made to form the most select limited edition of any motor car produced. Many extra solid silver features added the distinction which was much a part of AX 201, the company's 1907 Silver Ghost."
